Dial-up Connection – A Short Introduction
The oldest form of connecting the computer to the internet is dial-up connection. Dial-up connection gives internet access by connecting the computer modem to the ISP (Internet Service Provider) through telephone lines. Such a connection establishes a modem-to-modem link between the user’s computer modem and the ISP’s modem. This connection then uses the Internet Protocol to send and receive packets of information from the internet.
